"Smile" é uma canção baseada na música tema usada na trilha sonora do filme Modern Times de Charlie Chaplin , de 1936 .
Chaplin, que compôs a música, com a ajuda do compositor David Raksin, inspirou-se em uma sequência do primeiro ato do dueto de amor da ópera Tosca de Puccini , começando com Cavaradossi cantando "Quale occhio al mondo può star di paro". John Turner e Geoffrey Parsons adicionaram a letra e o título em 1954. Na letra, baseada em falas e temas do filme, o cantor diz ao ouvinte para se animar e que sempre haverá um amanhã brilhante, contanto que eles sorriam.
"Smile" tornou-se um padrão popular desde seu uso original no filme de Chaplin e foi gravado por vários artistas
